The new 707 Fifth “AAA” office tower designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM), features a distinctive, curved glass appearance with high energy-efficiency and a comfortable interior. In spite of the cold climate, the 27-story, 564,000-square-foot (52,400m²) building met its energy targets, due in part, to the use of Technoform’s TGI® Spacer M in the triple-glazed, curtain wall system. The curtain wall relies on TNG’s bent, triple-pane insulated glazing units with two low-e coatings from G-Crystal Glass Group.

The cladding and window systems combine multiple color profiles inspired by the Ferrari brand of luxury vehicles.

The clean, modern architecture belies the complex design of the building to make it one of the Colorado’s most sustainability constructed. The floor assembly will be built with cross-laminated timber (CLT), a wood-based sustainable material, in lieu of steel. The OZ team also incorporated a highly efficient heating and cooling system, extra insulation, low-e glass throughout the building’s extensive windows and glass walls, and advanced water-saving fixtures. The end result will be a NetZero-ready building with extraordinary low energy use that far surpasses energy-use codes, making it one of Colorado’s most sustainable office buildings.

Florida’s Aventura Mall recently completed a new wing, making it the third-largest shopping mall in the U.S. Super Sky Products Enterprises, LLC manufactured and installed a 347-foot-long, 96-foot-wide, custom, vaulted skylight to crown the new addition. Supporting Aventura Mall’s bright, modern design, Linetec finished the skylight’s aluminum framing components in a Pale Oak color. Upholding the specified appearance and functionality, the durable, 70 percent PVDF resin-based finishes also complement the skylight’s high-performance Viracon glass to keep shoppers comfortable beneath the warm, Florida sun.
