January 19 FGIA webinar to cover performance rating for fenestration systems, comparative analysis procedure

The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) will host a webinar entitled “Performance Rating Method for Fenestration Systems and Comparative Analysis Procedure” on Tuesday, January 19 at 11:30 a.m. Eastern. This webinar will cover the enhanced analytical aspects of AAMA 2502, a recently updated FGIA document, and the procedures for evaluating air leakage and water penetration resistance. Participants will also learn about the design pressure performance of mulled fenestration assemblies contained in AAMA 450 – another FGIA document that was also recently updated.

IIBEC announces new dates for 2021 International Convention and Trade Show

The International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC) has postponed their 2021 International Convention and Trade Show. The event will now take place September 15-20, 2021 at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown and the Phoenix Convention Center. IIBEC’s premier annual event will feature over 25 hours of educational seminars, a two-day trade show with over 140 exhibitors and live product demonstrations, as well as an auction hosted by the RCI-IIBEC Foundation and RCI Foundation Canada.

An economist gave an assessment of the current economy and what the industry might expect from an eventual post-COVID economy during the keynote address at the Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) Virtual Fall Conference. “The impact this current recession has had will either push us back to where we were in 2019 or continue into 2021, 2022,” said Dr. Chris Kuehl, a managing director of Armada Corporate Intelligence, who provides forecasts and strategic guidance for a wide variety of corporate clients around the world.

IIBEC 2020 Building Enclosure Symposium+ goes all virtual

After careful consideration, the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC) announced yesterday that the annual Building Enclosure Symposium (BES+) will be presented in an all-virtual format over two weeks in mid-November. Due to the virtual format of the revised event, participants will be able to attend more live educational sessions and have more time to network with exhibitors. The content and exhibit booths will be available through December 20, 2020, allowing attendees even more opportunities to engage with the presenters and their fellow attendees.

The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) will host a webinar entitled “An Introduction to the Curtain Wall Manual (AAMA CWM-19)” on Tues., Oct. 20. Presented by Rich Rinka, FGIA Technical Manager, Fenestration Standards and U.S. Industry Affairs, this webinar is complimentary and open to the public. “Curtain walls, based on skeleton frame construction and imaginative designs, provide large glazed areas that can dominate a façade,” said Rinka. “When these are not properly designed or specified, there can be consequences in the construction that are unwanted.”

Announcing the 2021 FGIA Virtual Annual Conference

The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) will hold its 2021 Annual Conference virtually due to the continued health concerns around the spread of COVID-19. This event, previously scheduled to be held at Omni Plantation in Amelia Island, Florida, will be hosted on Zoom for the convenience of participants. The event dates remain largely unchanged with the conference taking place Tuesday, February 23 through Thursday, February 25.
