Florida’s Aventura Mall’s new wing offers sunlit experience thanks to Super Sky skylight finished by Linetec

Florida’s Aventura Mall recently completed a new wing, making it the third-largest shopping mall in the U.S. Super Sky Products Enterprises, LLC manufactured and installed a 347-foot-long, 96-foot-wide, custom, vaulted skylight to crown the new addition. Supporting Aventura Mall’s bright, modern design, Linetec finished the skylight’s aluminum framing components in a Pale Oak color. Upholding the specified appearance and functionality, the durable, 70 percent PVDF resin-based finishes also complement the skylight’s high-performance Viracon glass to keep shoppers comfortable beneath the warm, Florida sun.

3M™ Daylight Redirecting Film lights up an innovative net-zero store while reducing energy and glare

Known as a “net-zero” retail store, the Walgreens is equipped with solar panels, two wind turbines and a geothermal system to generate electricity. As part of the project, Walgreens also wanted to make the most of available natural light flowing through the windows and reduce the dependence on electric lighting. Since lighting accounts for nearly 40% of all of the electricity used in commercial buildings in the United States, achieving a “net-zero” facility typically requires a dedicated lighting strategy. “By applying 3M Daylight Redirecting Film, we were able to solve our primary goal of reducing glare, while simultaneously saving energy by increasing the area we could use for daylight harvesting,” Robbins added. “Our decisions on how to treat our west-facing curtain wall were critical in the overall look, feel and function of our net-zero design.”

Las Vegas Vortex Canopy Creates Striking Structure on the Strip

The canopy was formed from 60,000 square-feet of Engineered Wall System Inc.’s 400 series rainscreen system using ALPOLIC Material’s fire-retardant (FR) core aluminum composite material (ACM). These metal panels feature Sherwin-Williams Coil Coating‘s Valflon® coating in Platinum Mica, Champagne Mica and Silver Metallic. Valflon was the ideal choice for this specific project, as it required a bold look with lots of gloss and shine. Even better, this coating is highly resistant to weathering, airborne chemicals, acid rain and graffiti-removing cleaning solvents.

Race Pace Bicycles Treads Forward with Challenging Renovation

Ammon Heisler Sachs Architects was hired to conduct a full-scale remodel of the interior and exterior of the warehouse. Plans were also developed to add 4,800 square-feet to house the company’s sales floor and storeroom. A major face-lift was needed to the structure’s façade to attract customers and convey the Race Pace Bicycle brand. To accomplish this, Fabral 12″ and 16″ Silhouette HCF Series™ metal wall panels finished in Valspar Fluropon® coating in Slate Gray and a custom red were installed in a continuous horizontal pattern on the exterior.
