Used in applications ranging from parking decks and residential garages to retail spaces, universities and stadiums, polyaspartic coatings have become popular as an alternative to solventborne acrylics and polyurethanes. Known for their performance, functionality and practicality, coatings utilizing this modern technology offer superior durability and quick return to service, along with low temperature application, high build per coat and excellent “color pop” over decorative, stained floors. Additionally, the usage of polyaspartic coatings often results in time and labor savings.
Polyaspartics are just one type of advanced floor coating that Steven Reinstadtler, market manager, Construction Coatings – Coatings, Adhesives & Specialties, Covestro LLC, will cover in his seminar “High-Performance Coatings for Industrial and Decorative Concrete” at 8 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 29, during the 2016 Concrete Decor Show in San Diego.
Reinstadtler’s training session will explore the history and basic science behind modern polyurethane and polyaspartic floor coatings, with particular attention focused on high-performance coatings and sealers based on one-component (1K) and two-component (2K) polyurethane, 2K polyaspartic and 1K waterborne UV-cured resins. These coatings and sealers address industry drivers for sustainability; offer excellent color and gloss retention; and resist abrasions, scratches and chemicals.
Conference visitors are encouraged to attend the seminar to gain a greater understanding of the desired traits, surface preparation and proper application techniques associated with these coating technologies. Additionally, safe use and handling requirements will be covered, and a variety of end-use applications, including an in-depth look at some real world success stories, will be explored. Attendees can earn continuing education credits for participating in the training course.
