HMC Architects is proud to announce that Lance Hosey, FAIA, LEED Fellow has joined the firm as Chief Impact Officer, a first for both the firm and the design industry. Based in HMC’s San Diego studio, Hosey will lead strategies to improve the impact of HMC’s work with a focus on sustainability, communications, research, and thought leadership, helping build the firm’s national reputation as a leader in design, innovation, and delivery. Hosey will also serve as Design Principal, overseeing key projects.

This spirit of exploration coupled with his experience on high-performing projects will have a positive impact on our firm as well as the communities we serve.”
A nationally recognized designer, Hosey began his career in New York working for Rafael Viñoly and Gwathmey Siegel and later spent a decade as Design Director with William McDonough + Partners, a pioneer of sustainable design. He has led the design of many high-performance projects for clients such as Google, NASA, Palm, SC Johnson, Morgan Stanley, the University of California, and California State University.
An acclaimed author and public speaker, Hosey has written two books and hundreds of essays on design innovation. In 2015, he became one of only 30 people in the world to have been named a Fellow with both the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
