Boston Logan International Airport’s new, 10-story West Garage Extension features an attractive, kinetic exterior to distinctively screen the facility. Designed by Arrowstreet Inc. and manufactured by EXTECH, the dynamic façade system consists of more than 48,000 aluminum flapper panels that move in response to wind currents. Each flapper panel was finished by Linetec in Class I clear anodize.

Tubelite helps ArtsQuest Center transform historic Bethlehem Steel Mill

Pennsylvania’s ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks is a new 4.5 acre year-round art center located on a reclaimed brownfield at the western end of the 150-year-old Bethlehem Steel manufacturing site. Spillman Farmer Architects designed the 66,000-square-foot, $17.3 million arts facility as a transformative and transparent space, with an exterior featuring curtainwall and entrance systems from Tubelite Inc.

GRAMMY Museum® Mississippi features Tubelite curtainwall and entrances

The new 28,000-square-foot GRAMMY Museum® Mississippi opened in March 2016. The one-story museum’s façade and 30-foot-tall lobby features Tubelite Inc.’s curtainwall and entrance systems. Owned and operated by the Cleveland Music Foundation, the Museum is located in Cleveland, Mississippi near the campus of Delta State University, home of the Delta Music Institute, which features the most unique audio recording facilities in the South.

The University of Pennsylvania’s $127 million New College House opened for the 2016-17 academic year as the first new student residence on campus since 1972. Designed by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson (BCJ) in collaboration with the University, the first purpose-built College House brings together undergraduates, faculty, staff and graduate students in a shared suite-style community. The 198,000-square-foot, 350-bed building promotes sustainable, 21st century living and learning, and is pursuing LEED® Silver certification.

University of Iowa Voxman Music Building designed for resiliency, sustainability and acoustic performance

The University of Iowa (UI) School of Music in Iowa City celebrates its 110th anniversary and a new home – Voxman Music Building. The grand opening and ribbon-cutting event was held on Oct. 21, 2016. The 190,000-square-foot facility replaces its former location, which was damaged by the 2008 flood. Designed for resiliency, sustainability and the highest acoustic performance, the $152 million project is targeting LEED® for New Construction Gold certification.

Ace Hotel New Orleans restores historic Art Deco exterior and updates performance

Opened in March 2016, Ace Hotel New Orleans has transformed the 1928 Art Deco, nine-story Barnett’s Furniture building into a 234-room boutique hotel with dining, retail, event and meeting spaces plus a rooftop pool. The 184,000-square-foot, mixed-use hotel and retail center is situated in the middle of New Orleans’ Warehouse District at the corner of Carondelet and Lafayette Streets.

San Francisco International Airport’s new air traffic control tower meets high-performance design and LEED Gold criteria

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA’s) first-of-its-kind airport traffic control tower and integrated facility relies on Wausau Window and Wall Systems’ high-performance products to meet the multiple performance requirements. The new $80 million, 221-foot-tall, torch-shaped tower has improved safety, security and design standards, and has obtained LEED® Gold status. The seismic design for the tower allows for the structure to withstand a Richter magnitude 8 earthquake.

CU Boulder’s Ketchum Arts and Sciences Building retains historical accuracy with Wausau windows

In July 2016, the University of Colorado (CU) Boulder earned LEED® Gold certification through the U.S. Green Building Council for the $9.4 million renovation and renewal of historic Ketchum Arts and Sciences Building. To achieve the project’s aesthetic, sustainability and performance goals, Wausau Window and Wall Systems worked closely with Hord Coplan Macht (formerly Slaterpaull Architects) in Denver, glazing contractor Metropolitan Glass and Fransen Pittman Construction, as well as CU-Boulder.

Linetec finishes Penn Family Medicine Center’s pyramid skylight manufactured by Super Sky

Designed by Array Architects, Penn Family Medicine Southern Chester County’s new 72,000-square-foot outpatient facility in West Grove, Pennsylvania, opened in 2015. The $28 million building highlights “ample natural light” among its amenities, which is made possible in part by its pyramid skylight. Super Sky Products Enterprises, LLC, manufactured the 23-by-23-foot skylight with aluminum framing finished by Linetec in a Silver Sunstorm color mica coating to ensure long-lasting performance.
