Haskell President James O’Leary Appointed Chief Executive Officer

Haskell announced today that effective immediately James ‘Jim’ O’Leary has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) assuming full executive leadership responsibilities of the $1 billion firm. Last September O’Leary was appointed President of Haskell. He will now hold both titles succeeding Steve Halverson, who had held the positions for the past 19 years. Halverson will continue to serve as Chairman.

Study Finds Flexible Structural Sheathing Under-Designed, Unsafe and Unreliable

A new report finds that manufacturers of flexible structural sheathing overstate their lateral load resistance values by as much as 42 percent. In a study by three independent laboratories—Clemson University, University of Oklahoma and APA – The Engineered Wood Association—five flexible structural sheathing materials available in the marketplace were tested for their wind and seismic lateral load (shear wall) performance. APA published the results in a new Product Advisory: Performance of Flexible Structural Sheathing.

Tropicalia was designed by Coldefy & Associates as a “harmonious haven”, seamlessly integrated into the local environment with an original feature: the project is self-sufficient – producing energy through the use of a double dome, creating a room in which the air is heated through a greenhouse effect. The absence of load-bearing pillars and the presence of a peripheral green wall enhance this cocoon-like atmosphere. The architecture will blend in with the scenery: the building is set partially in the ground, thus seemingly lowering its height and impact. Tropicalia will appear to rise like a small hill within the landscape.
