Rivers Casino appeared before the Pittsburgh Planning Commission January 24, 2017. to outline plans for a proposed $51.5 million North Shore hotel. The seven-story, four-star hotel will include 221 guest rooms and will connect to the casino on its east end, utilizing the vacant land between the casino and the Carnegie Science Center.

The tallest structure between Chicago and Philadelphia is the 64-floor U.S. Steel Tower in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh, which also ranks as the 7th largest high-rise office building in the United States by square footage. Through a series of retrofits to improve its energy efficiency, the iconic skyscraper built in 1970 recently achieved ENERGY STAR certification.

REI announced a major milestone in its continued work to lead on sustainable operations in a press release December 21, 2016. Its newest distribution center, located in Goodyear, Arizona, has achieved LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum certification — the highest level in the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) green building rating system — making it the first distribution center in the U.S. to achieve both LEED Platinum certification and Net Zero Energy.
