Architecture, interiors and planning firm, FXCollaborative designed the interior spaces to cater to all future tenants. Each floor plan has a fluid connection to the outside with oversized windows, highlighting natural light and column-free floor plans which further supports space efficiency. Additionally, the exterior façade will feature unique dark blue glazed bricks.

Construction complete on University of Colorado Boulder’s sustainable residence hall Williams Village East

Williams Village East was designed to achieve a LEED Platinum certification under LEED v4. A sustainability feature includes windows with electrochromic glazing that adjust the shading based on the time of day and year. The $96.7 million residence hall was designed by St. Louis-based KWK Architects as part of the design-build team; architect-of-record alm2s of Fort Collins, Colo.; and Whiting-Turner Contracting Company of Denver.

Portland Playhouse involved the transformation of a late 19th-century church into a home for a non-profit theater company in Portland, Oregon. SERA partnered with the Playhouse on a multi-phased project that identified programmatic requirements, functional needs, aesthetic preferences, and growth strategies for the organization. The results of that planning included a substantial renovation of the former church building, the addition of a 1,500-square-foot dedicated rehearsal and community space, and concept design for an outdoor component to be added at a later date.

KAI celebrates completion of first pediatric specialty healthcare center in North St. Louis County

Designed by KAI, the 15,000-square-foot medical building houses SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Pediatric Specialty Services and also an office of SSM Health Medical Group Pediatrics. The building’s child-friendly design incorporates the use of natural lighting; a mix of vibrant colors on the walls and furniture; comforting natural materials like wood and stone; and whimsical, hand-painted artwork throughout. The single-story facility is broken down into two separate services—one half of the building is occupied by SSM Health and the other half is occupied by SSM Cardinal Glennon. Both tenants share a common reception area, waiting room and isolated sick waiting room.
