Stantec is pleased to announce that Senior Structural Engineer Saeed Towfighi has joined its buildings team in Ottawa. Saeed brings more than 30 years of experience leading structural design teams on high-rise and large-scale international projects.
“We’re delighted to welcome Saeed to Stantec, and we’re thrilled to see his expertise in action,” says Josh Hale, Stantec’s managing leader for buildings in its Ontario North & East region. “Saeed’s experience is already having a significant impact through his mentorship of our up-and-coming designers.”
Saeed specializes in structural design projects within high-seismic areas, and holds a US patent on the effective use of damping systems for building and non-building structures — a significant invention due to the level of energy dissipation that can be achieved, often with lower costs than traditional design methods.
“I’m excited to join Stantec and work with this talented, multifaceted team,” says Saeed. “I’m eager to develop innovative and creative solutions for our structural design projects, and I’m looking forward to mentoring junior engineers to help them achieve their goals.”
Saeed has extensive experience around the globe, including work on the Royal Atlantis Resort in Dubai, Torre Cuarzo in Mexico City, Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas, One World Trade Center in New York City, and The Shard in England. He has also been published in several industry outlets, including ASME Journal of Applied Mechanics, International Journal of Solids and Structures, and Concrete International.
