A familiar face and known leader in the Branded Environments design discipline has returned to global architecture firm Perkins and Will to expand its services in the Southwest. Kimberly Richter, a Perkins and Will alumna who worked in the firm’s Chicago studio from 2010 to 2013, now leads the region’s growing Branded Environments practice.
“I’m thrilled to return to Perkins and Will—a firm that does so much good for the Austin community, and for communities around the world, through its human-centered design,” Richter says. “I’m also excited to shape the future of the Southwest Region’s Branded Environments practice, and to work with an exceptional team of talented designers—many of whom I already have the pleasure of knowing.”
In her new role, Richter will begin building a multi-disciplinary team that, through brand strategy, user experience, and research, will create customized design solutions for clients that reflect their organizations’ unique cultures and goals.
“The power of designing a branded environment, whether it’s for a corporate client, a higher education client, or any other type of client, is that the story that distinguishes each is never the same. Richter says. “It’s very exciting to offer these services throughout the Southwest, right from our Austin home base.”
In addition to being an award-winning designer, Richter has a background in the film and TV industry—an experience that gave her a clear understanding and appreciation of good storytelling through visual communication. She has been recognized for her exemplary work by the International Interior Design Association, the American Institute of Architects, and a variety of industry organizations and design media.
