Stantec to Work with Western Michigan University to Transform Main Campus South Neighborhood

Global design firm Stantec was selected to provide full-service architecture and engineering for a new student housing development in the South Neighborhood of Western Michigan University’s (WMU) campus in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The new development will be positioned along the highly-visible Stadium Drive and will provide space in a living-learning capacity. The development will provide engaging living-learning environments for students to support a reinvigorated South Neighborhood community.

Capitalize Albany Corporation, in collaboration with the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) and the City of Albany, has selected Stantec to complete initial design and engineering for the Albany Skyway, the region’s first elevated park. Once complete, this transformative project will serve as a vital connection between Albany’s downtown, Arbor Hill and Warehouse District neighborhoods and the Hudson River waterfront.

The design-build team of Hensel Phelps Construction Co, Stantec and partners, will deliver the new $218 million OMF East. Hensel Phelps and Stantec bring more than 140 combined years of design and construction experience to the project. The 165,000-square-foot facility will provide 14 service bays, a cleaning and wash bay, shop areas, parts storage, office space, and on-site parking for service and employee vehicles.

The design-build team of Walsh Construction Company II and Stantec will deliver the new $135 million CHQC. The CHQC is one of the first large scale new Zero Net Energy (ZNE) projects that will be implemented by the State of California after the issuance of Gov. Jerry Brown’s Executive Order B-18-12 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve energy efficiency in California. The project is targeting LEED Gold certification and will be constructed to achieve a variety of sustainable goals to reduce environmental impact, optimize performance, lower energy and operating costs, conserve resources, and increase occupant satisfaction and productivity.

evolv1 sets a new benchmark for Green Building Innovation with Canada’s first Zero Carbon Building – Design certification

The Cora Group announced that it has been awarded Zero Carbon Building – Design certification by the Canada Green Building Council® (CaGBC) for evolv1. A new commercial multi-tenant office building now in construction, evolv1 is one of 16 elite projects across Canada to be selected by the CaGBC to participate in a two-year pilot of its new Zero Carbon Building Standard. It is also the first building to earn the Zero Carbon Building – Design certification.

LMN Architects expands and renovates the Greater Columbus Convention Center

The Greater Columbus Convention Center Expansion and Renovation breathes new life into this emblematic civic complex. The $140 million, multi-building project adds 137,000-square-feet of new space and renovates 800,000-square-feet of the existing structure. Schooley Caldwell Associates served as associate architect for the project, with Corna Kokosing Construction Company and Elford, Inc. as Construction Manager.

Lacombe Lift Station Concrete Waterproofing Project

The Lacombe Lift Station was recently built in Red Deer in Alberta, Canada, to accommodate the area’s population increase as well as to upgrade the existing sewage/wastewater systems that served the local population. The engineers on the project, Stantec, wanted a proven, leak-proof waterproofing system to protect the station and selected W. R. MEADOWS’ building envelope membranes.

Rivers Casino proposes $51.5 million North Shore hotel

Rivers Casino appeared before the Pittsburgh Planning Commission January 24, 2017. to outline plans for a proposed $51.5 million North Shore hotel. The seven-story, four-star hotel will include 221 guest rooms and will connect to the casino on its east end, utilizing the vacant land between the casino and the Carnegie Science Center.
